Closing Fireworks and Music Show: Pirotecnia Valecea

Since 1876, Pirotecnia Valecea has kept a unique tradition alive: the art of transforming fire into emotion. Generation after generation, this family of pyrotechnicians has lit up the skies and enlivened celebrations, bringing excitement, color, and joy to every corner. On this occasion, they will be in charge of closing out the 2026 Semana Grande with a pyromusical show.

Its origins date back to the mid-19th century, when the family began manufacturing gunpowder. It was in 1876 that Leoncio José took a decisive step toward festive pyrotechnics, laying the foundation for a company that would never stop growing. By 1910, Valecea had undergone significant expansion, culminating in 1914 with its victory at the World Pyrotechnics Championship in Turin—a milestone that cemented its international prestige. Throughout the 20th century, the company continued to evolve. In 1948, the firm participated in Count Ciano’s iconic fireworks display in San Sebastián, and later, Gerardo Martínez de Lecea, representing the third generation, drove the company’s international growth, earning recognition in cities such as Monaco, Trieste, and Viareggio in 1964.

This spirit of innovation continued in 1980, when María Carmen Martínez de Lecea, together with José Luis Valdecantos, led the company’s modernization, designing a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant and relocating its facilities to Berantevilla (Álava). Today, the fifth generation, led by Aitor Valdecantos Martínez de Lecea, continues to build on this legacy with passion and excellence. Together with a team of experts, they combine tradition and innovation to create unique shows where fire, light, and sound come together to create truly unforgettable experiences.
