Although carnivals are held across the world, the ones that are held in many of the Basque Country’s villages are very special. You can still find carnivals that are deeply rooted in Basque traditions and Mother Earth.
The famous celebrations for Saint Thomas's Day take place every December 21st.
There are almost one million Euskera speakers, and not all of them are from the Basque Country. Some people have arrived from other places, and have decided to learn it.

At San Sebastian-Donostia Tourist Office we want to show everyone who visits us the best of our city and we use the BASQUE CHALLENGE to present EUSKERA, our language. Every year we prepare a challenge based around Basque culture. The first is to repeat this sentence in Basque:"Ni gai naiz, zuek ere izango al zinatekete?"
