Gau Beltza (Black Night) or Arimen Gaua (Night of Souls) is a festival celebrated on the night of October 31, which was already observed in the Basque Country long before Halloween existed.
Over 2,000 years ago, in a house in an ancient settlement in what is now Mount Irulegi (Navarra), someone left more than an object: they left a message. A bronze hand, meticulously crafted, which when viewed today speaks to us from the past.
7 and 14 September: two unmissable days of racing in La Concha!
The beginning of September - from September 3 to 14 - will see the celebration of the Euskal Jaiak or Fiestas Vascas (“Basque Festivals”) in Donostia. These local festivities bring together the best of culture, sports, culinary arts, folklore and Basque traditions.
There are almost one million Euskera speakers, and not all of them are from the Basque Country. Some people have arrived from other places, and have decided to learn it.
