On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Arkaitz Añorgako Dantzariak, the group presents, as part of the Iturritik Jaialdia festival, the Sagar-dantza, created based on the melodies and structure of the sagar-dantzak—or apple dances—compiled by Aita Donostia and R. M. Azkue in Baztán. This choreography was originally created for Saski Naski, a show staged in 1928 to showcase Basque folklore internationally.
The program for this performance is rounded out by several dances that define the dance style and identity of this century-old group: the “Ezpata-dantza,” “Agurra,” and “Soinu zaharrak.” They also take the audience on a journey through the dances of Lapurdi, the Corpus Christi dances, the “Besta Berri” of Oñati, and the dances performed during the masquerades of Zuberoa.
