Synopsis
This is a ballet in three acts inspired by a romantic poem by Lord Byron, with original music by Adolphe Adam, to which music by Riccardo Drigo, Leo Delibes, and Cesare Pugni was later added. It depicts the adventures of the corsairs’ lives and a pirate’s love for a slave girl. It premiered in 1856 at the Paris Opera. The version we will see was choreographed in 1866 by Jules Perrot and Marius Petipa
