“Melón Pelado” by the ButacaZero theater company, takes the audience on a grotesque journey that blends storytelling, documentary theater, and object theater—a journey that should never again be hidden away in any attic. Two puppeteers open an old trunk that could be sitting in our attic without us even knowing it. Inside, they don’t find our grandmothers’ china, but rather the silenced story of thousands of women who had their heads shaved during the Civil War.
