Usue Arrieta + Ainara Elgoibar: ‘Baltzune’ + ‘P-003687’
If you want more information , you can access the organizer detail sheet.
The artists selected by Maddi Barber to participate in the seventh edition of the Museo Bikoitza program are Usue Arrieta and Ainara Elgoibar, members of the Tractora artists’ cooperative.
Both have focused on the institutional evolution of the San Telmo Museum as a starting point for their research. Elgoibar does so through P-003687, the code that identifies the sculpture *Los Fundadores: Alonso de Idiáquez y Gracia de Olazábal* in the museum’s collection. Her interest lies in the cut that separates the two pieces of the ensemble.
Arrieta, for her part, has traced the pivotal role that individuals and civil society organizations played in the museum’s founding. Her work takes as its source material a series of letters addressed to the museum director in 1917. These manuscripts serve as a basis for her to explore, through sound, the close correlation between the disciplinary development of anthropology and artistic creation in the Basque Country.
