Toni is a young playwright with a promising future. One night, leaks appear in his ceiling. What should have been a simple household mishap ends up becoming the most important moment of his life when he discovers that his neighbor is himself thirty years in the future. Things in the future don’t seem to have gone as Toni imagined, and the two versions of himself will try to fix what has gone wrong in the present, in order to achieve the best possible future.
“Goteras” aims to explore a genre rarely seen in theater: science fiction. Through dialogue and stage design, the play aims to travel through time while reflecting on the meaning of growing older, the struggle between expectations and harsh reality, and the value of success—all without losing sight of the comedy. Because encountering your future self and seeing yourself transformed into something you never could have imagined can be tragically comic.
