Malandain Ballet Biarritz: ‘La chambre d’amour’
If you want more information , you can access the organizer detail sheet.
La Chambre d’amour is a legendary grotto on the Basque Coast where two lovers died long ago. Nestled on the slope of a cliff, this cave—nourished by the ocean—harbors all manner of mysteries related to life and death. History gave them the names Ura and Ederra (water and beauty in Basque). They had taken refuge in the grotto, happily lost in love, when they were caught by the rising tide. In the morning, their intertwined bodies were found on the sand. In death, Ura and Ederra join the ranks of literary lovers whose romantic happiness is cut short by fate: Othello and Desdemona, Romeo and Juliet, Dido and Aeneas, Orpheus and Eurydice… La chambre d’amour evokes them.
