‘Rojava. Women Between Wars’
If you want more information , you can access the organizer detail sheet.
The exhibition Rojava. Women Between Wars by photojournalist Victòria Rovira Casanovas aims to highlight the fundamental role of women in Rojava, who are often invisible in most conflicts and represented almost exclusively by men.
In Rojava, Kurdish, Syriac, and Assyrian women have challenged this traditional pattern, leading a genuine feminist revolution based on self-management and empowerment. They have done so in a world dominated not only by men, but also in a particularly complex territory such as the Middle East.
These women have worked collectively to build a more just, egalitarian, ecological, and free society. They are an inspiring example for other women, both within and outside their territory, and a global benchmark in the struggle for social transformation.
The project also seeks to focus on the most vulnerable population in any war: women and children. Through personal testimonies, interviews, and unpublished images, the project offers a direct look at their experiences.
Ultimately, it aims to inform about the conflicts in Rojava and their consequences from a gender perspective.
