Xabier Amuriza returns to the stage in this show alongside Agus Barandiaran to blend music and folk songs. Amuriza will reflect on his life through the folk songs he has collected and composed over the past few decades.
Amuriza’s grandmother used to hold weekly village festivals in front of their farmhouse, and with the help of a tambourine and her voice, she would get the whole neighborhood dancing. It wasn’t just a party—it was also a way of life, because she made a living from the food and drinks sold at the festival.
Amuriza comes from that world; she grew up experiencing these gatherings firsthand and has dedicated her life to researching and studying the stories behind the folk songs that were sung. They weren’t just lyrics—they were also snapshots and images of the moment: the snow on the mountain, the neighborhood donkey, the boy from the farmhouse…
