The San Sebastián International Fireworks Competition takes place during the nights of the city’s Semana Grande celebrations (8–15 August) and is a must-see event for all lovers of pyrotechnic displays. The fireworks begin at 10:45 p.m. and offer a spectacular show of light, colour and sound, illuminating La Concha Bay for 20 minutes. The 61st edition of the Fireworks Competition will feature pyrotechnic companies from Italy, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Granada, competing against the three-time champion from Valencia.
The fireworks can be seen from many parts of the city, although the most popular spots are La Concha Promenade and the surrounding streets. And after the fireworks, there is nothing better—or more typically San Sebastián—than enjoying an ice cream!

There are three different juries that determine the prizes of the Contest:
-The Official Jury is in charge of awarding the following prizes: the Gold Shell, the Silver Shell and the Bronze Shell.
-The Youth Jury, that awards the Super Amara Youth Jury Award.
-The public of Donostia / San Sebastián, which awards the Gran Prix of the Public.
