If La Concha Beach is special in itself, as has been proven by its winning of the TripAdvisor Traveller’s Choice award for the best beach in Europe and the sixth-best beach in the world, this morning has been more photogenic than ever thanks to the white cloak of snow covering everything.
The people of Donostia have not missed the opportunity to stride across the snowy sand and some of the bravest even went for a swim, as is their custom every day of the year, come rain, shine or snow.
Miramar Palace and its gardens, facing out to the sea, have been transformed into a makeshift ski station with sledges, snowboards and even body boards. Anything works for sliding across the snow in Donostia! After all, the city of San Sebastián is a popular surfing destination.
Friends in Donostia wasted no time, filling the city with snowmen in a matter of hours. Snow and palm trees look perfect together!
As well as groups of friends, couples have made the most of this wonderful opportunity to go out for romantic strolls and take postcard-worthy photos.
We bade farewell to February with a spectacular day which proved how enjoyable it can be to visit Donostia/San Sebastián in the middle of winter: the enormous waves, the snow, the beautiful light of the sunset…
