The Glad is the Day festival celebrates its tenth edition this year, and it will do so with more energy than ever. This unique —and free— daytime festival was born in 2016, following Donostia / San Sebastián’s designation as European Capital of Culture. Since then, it has celebrated musical diversity every year, taking place in Cristina Enea Park.

On Sunday, August 2, from 12:00 to 21:00, Cristina Enea Park will once again be filled with bands and artists from a wide range of backgrounds. Seven bands will perform on the Stage Nagusia —the main stage—, while eight acts linked to electronic music, hip-hop, and urban sounds will get Ruina Sónica dancing. Once night falls, DJs will be selecting the best tracks at Le Bukowski and Dabadaba for those who want to stretch out the weekend.
Despite its youth, Glad is the Day is a festival that Donostiarras hold especially dear. Perhaps it is because of the atmosphere created in the park, where the diversity of the audience stands out: young people, families, music lovers, local residents… Everyone has a place at this celebration, which combines good music with a first-class natural setting.

The park, the real headliner
In fact, it could be said that Glad is the Day is really more of a celebration of Cristina Enea Park, which becomes the true protagonist of the event. This urban park is perfectly designed for enjoying all kinds of cultural activities. Its location and history make it the ideal setting for a festival of this kind.

Two stages: the main stage and the “Ruina Sónica”

As could not be otherwise, the music at Glad is the Day is highly varied: from cumbia to trap, including indie and electronic music. This last musical style also has its own stage, called “Ruina Sónica”, which will host eight DJs from across Spain.

But there’s more than just music!

In addition to music, Glad is the Day also features an attractive market with around 65 stalls dedicated to crafts and fashion, where you can find, among many other things, vintage clothing and creations by local talents. It is well worth taking a stroll through these temporary little shops, full of charming products.

Since at Glad is the Day you can leave the park and come back as many times as you like, we recommend taking a stroll through this leafy park between concerts. Explore it and discover some of its most special corners: the oval, the pond, the Cristina Enea Estate… Cristina Enea Park has a beautiful story behind it, starring its former owners, Fermín and Cristina, the Dukes of Mandas.
